On July 7, 2025, Vice President Zhang Zhaoguo of Shanghai Jiao Tong University met with Ms. Rositsa Kirova—former Deputy Speaker of the 46th, 47th, 49th, and 50th Bulgarian National Assemblies—and her delegation at the Minhang Campus.
Vice President Zhang extended a warm welcome to Ms. Kirova and her team. He gave a comprehensive overview of the university’s development history and strategic layout, outlining its four major initiatives: “Blue Ocean,” “Healthy Life,” “Digital Future,” and “Zero Bay.” Zhang noted that the university has already established close cooperation with Bulgarian universities in areas such as agricultural industry development, ecological protection, and rural community development and governance. He expressed his hope to further expand the network of collaboration with more Bulgarian institutions, jointly exploring new fields and opportunities for cooperation.
Ms. Kirova thanked Shanghai Jiao Tong University for its warm hospitality and commended the university on its remarkable achievements. She emphasized Bulgaria’s strong commitment to educational and scientific exchanges with China. Ms. Kirova noted that SJTU’s accomplishments in ecological protection and modern agriculture were particularly impressive, and said she looked forward to exploring more substantive cooperation projects in joint research, faculty exchanges, and student mobility programs.
Following the meeting, Ms. Kirova and her delegation visited the School of Design, where they gained a deeper understanding of its teaching and research achievements in areas such as sustainable ecological design and climate-resilient urban development.
Representatives from the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, KoGuan School of Law, the School of Design, and other departments attended the meeting.
